Front and rear locker options?

Front and rear locker options?

I am running a 1994 Tracker with stock axels and I am looking for locker options.  There's no way that I am going to run a spool.  The axels are so light seeing a diff blow out does not take too much imagination Snice this is a dayly driver.  I know ARB does a rear but what about front, also does Detroit have anything to offer?   I talked to Ox Locker (used them on my Willies Wagoneer) and thats a negative as well.

ARB does front and rear.  Lock rite has a rear, and trail tough can make a lock rite work in the front.

Upgrade that aliminum front to steel though before adding a locker.

I run a mini spool in the rear of my 94 tracker on 31's and daily drive it since the car is broke ;)

I've been running a spool in the rear of my rig and never had a prob with breakage ...

I can understand not wanting one because of the behavior on the street, but offroad it's hard to beat.

forgot to add ...

I also have a lockrite up front, in the alum diff, and no breakage there either (other than some popped CV's on occasion).

I have a mini spool in my Samurai, and have only noticed the difference in very tight turns. Otherwise, it drives fine.

Some how despite all the reading I have done here I missed that the front diff is aluminium :(  Wow time to get cozy with the shop maunal.  I was suprisingly happy with the IFS but that's done with now.  Clearly time to start hitting pick and pull for a toyota front axel.  Does anyone know if Detroit makes any option for us Sidekick guys?  I don't mind spending the money on ARB but if I can avoid air I will.  I've had issues with condensation and freezeing in the line on my other rigs and the air lines aways seem to be the low spot on the air system.

But, the front dif doesn't HAVE TO BE aluminum.  If you like the IFS, just swap out for the steel  housing and keep on groovin'.  Use this forum's search feature for details.

Yep after giving IFS a try I probally wont do straight axle ever again..  also I will be going to a steel housing someday, probally on my next build.

The aluminum housing has held up for me for (with a BUNCH of abuse) ...

I'll scout for a steel housing, but not been a big issue since I've yet to destroy the aluminum one (even with a front locker).

I've been running a loc-rite in the rear of my tracker for like a year, but IMO have done welded spiders to(read that cheap spool) it is hard to beat the loc-rites, never had it fail on the trail!

Acutally I spent a bit of time poking around and found that trail tough has a listing for Detroit E-Z lockers. :)  I guess that part of my quest is over, I have not called to make sure they are avaliable though.  Hopefully they are better on the phone then Calmini.
