16 Valve swap wont start
« on: July 28, 2007, 07:48:44 PM »
Hello fellow suzuki owners
I just did a 16V swap into my 1988 Suzuki samurai that trail tough modified my harness. All the wires are hooked up and I changed all the essential parts. When I first put the motor in it had no spark. So i changed the ECU and now there is lots of spark but the motor wont start. It will crank over everytime I turn the key.The starter also sounds like it just wines and it sounds like there isnt enough juice to turn it over. I hope nothing is majorly wrong with the motor. Any suggestions?????? ??? ???

Charge the battery and pull the spark plugs out and see how it cranks, you might have a fuel pump problem or the timing in most books are wrong for the 16 valve, at least the firing order, the dist turns backwards from the eight valve and when changing the timing belt it lines up on number four.
