has anyone run a 1.6 16v header???

i know that there are alot of 8v in this forum and they all like their thorley header.  but for the people that have the 16v  what are the like and dislikes of running the thorley header.  this will be my final decideing point so please leave coments.

Im running a doug thorley header on my beast and i love it  try looking up "Doug thorly header" in search feel free to ask any questions

I think the doug thorley for the 16V only came out a couple of years ago, so maybe not many people have them.  I've considered getting one, but not sure if it would be worth the $$ for any gain.

Why not Calmini's?  I understand they are making them in stainless now.

I have run both headers on my X90. The 4 into one type was chrome & the tri-y is now a ceramic. Don't know how much diff. the coating makes but it sure looks better & cleaner with ceramic. As for performance the tri-y (thorley) has the edge over the 4 into one header. It pulls a little stronger off the line. I would recommed Thorley in ceramic.

I heard from some guy that they give 9HP gain in a fully stock configuration...   ;)

  I would corroborate the 9hp gain in stock configs. I've seen that online. (of course, I've also heard that you can take any hp gain the manufacturer says and cut it in about half!!)  I am considering Thorley ceramic myself, and to my it would be worth it for the sound alone, and the 9 hp would be icing on the cake.

hey ill get the pics up soon i love the thing no probs yet. dont listen to the torque specs they give you.  it said torque to 35 ft/lbs but that stretched my studs to far. the  manaul for my rig is 18 so i set a good 23ft/lbs all around.  my skid plates that i have from calmini hit on my cat convertor so the shop knows me and gave me a magnaflow high flow  cat the things abou 15lbs lighter than the stock cat and were as the stock cat was about a foot and a 1/2 long this one is 5 inches and still smog legal,  the kicker has a sound like no other everyone loves it.  so the entire system is...

Long tube thorley header, into a magnaflow high flow cat, 2" pipe into a spin tech exhaust, and 2.5 out with a point down tip.  noticable power increase heck yes!!!

You do realize the CALMINI unit is a High-Flow Magnaflow with their collector welded to it, right?  I wonder if they knew it and told you otherwise.

Just ordered the CALMINI set up for my 16V 4dr.  I got the Stainless Steel header and and full exhaust.  Just got to add a direct fit, full flow Cat for a full new set up.

If S/S is available, for the extra few $$$, why go with ceramic or, ugh!, chrome?

The only reason I would say Thorley, is the CARB cert.  But I know a few guys running the 8V CALMINI header in CALI and use the Thorley CARB cert and no one knows the difference.  CALMINI's head has the correct squared ports and flows better than the Thorley.
