Last night one of my cousins friends took his lifted(yet 2wd) dodge ram pickup off road in a field, and got it stuck trying to cross a rutted road. even though it has some stupidly large tires with massive tread, it still just spun in forward and reverse

To give you an idea how subtle the rut was, the tracker could easily go across it in 2wd. So after trying everything from jumping on the bed, to rocking it, to putting boards from a stolen pallet under the tires(the field was in a business park). Nothing would get it unstuck. So they call one of their other friends and he gives me a ride to my car. I come back, and we hook the tracker to the Bodge (thats not a typo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodge), and I pull it out using 4wd and low range

. I now know all these lifted full size trucks are truly worthless off road. They are too wide to fit down trails, the frame and suspension is too stiff to flex and keep the wheels on the ground, and the gasoline ones guzzle gas, usually getting in the 10 to 12 mpg range. The diesel ones are ok, but that is just because they get decent mileage. I still find it funny that a full size truck had to be pulled out by a geo tracker

, and afterwards the owner would just brag about how he can go faster on the pavement than I can, well so can a nissan sentra or toyota corolla
