Well I was a tuner guy, then a domestic guy, i've owned cars from Honda CRX's to Chevy Cavaliers, to Pontiac Firefly's, to Ford Mustangs, but I just last week bought my first 4x4.. a 1994 geo tracker 2 dr. hardtop. i know how to handle my 4x4s offroad and all that jazz, i've just never worked on a 4x4 or modified one.
First off, I found this gem a few hours away for $800. it has 178,000 KMs on it, body was in great shape other than one little spot(now fixed), and it needed an inspection. I put a muffler on it and now she is inspected and looks sharp. love the removable top btw.
my question is..
what should i do first? i'm on a tight budget, but i want to start preparing it for the occasional offroad adventure. my adventures usually end up in a mudhole or way back in the woods, so i need some clearance, and i definately need to get every bit of power possible out of this little thing.
it has stock suspension(replaced oem last year so its in great shape), and a set of 215 wild country tires, they work well on it for now.. but i want to lift it and get some 235s or 30s at least.
what do you guys have for advice to gain some power and some more clearance?
first mods are going to be a custom pushbar w/ lights and a custom skidplate. This is also going to be my daily driver, to and from college (60km every day) so i have to preserve some gas.
suggestions...? i've only ever made a car lower.. not higher..
