35X12.5 ON A 6 INCH RIM????
« on: August 17, 2007, 07:38:30 PM »
some dude in the local papaper is selling a new set of tires, 35x12.5 on a stock tracker steel rims.  The specs of the tires call for a 8.5 to 11 inch rim.  I Think the stock stee is 6 inches, normally I wouldn't even bet an eye, but since it'll run at 10-12 psi it's entire life, would it be ok?  Other then the major rubbing?

that is very questionable,  I wouldn't recomend it at all,  because the psi AND the sidewall are both working against the bed to be lifted aff the rim,   all it takes is one bad angle on one tire and POP it's off the rim.  i've seen it.  if you have no other option,  try it,  but bring a spare.

Stock rims are 5.5" wide  :o If they're a good price, you could get another set of rims, either new, or a set of 15x8's from a salvage yard

Worse cae, if they don't work out... you could always sell the stock rims too.  They aren't exactly cheap.

I ran a 30x11.5 on the stock rims for a long time and even aired down to 3psi I never popped a bead, but the center of the tread did wear faster than sides like it was over inflated! so good luck!
