Hey all, i have recently come across a full toyota power steering set up.
I was wondering if anyone has done this conversion. If so did you have any problems with the left front tire hitting the steering box?
I am going to be running yota axles too, so im not sure if thats going to push the tires out enough to keep from running into it.

If anyone has any pics or info that would be great.

im going to do the same conversion myself, but im not quite there yet... how are you mounting the IFS steering box to the outside of the frame? and how are you going to get the pump in the serpentine belt? i don't know how you could run toyota axles w/o the power steering because, if you're using the hi-steer, there's no mounting point for a steering stabilizer...

To get the box on the outside of the frame, i guess im just going to blow some holes in the from, put some pipe in the holes. then add to plates to either side of the frame, so the box wont rip the frame to pieces.
For the pump, just make a bracket to hook in where suzuki P/S pump would go then run a belt to it.  I think the belt sizes are the same for both toyota and suzuki.
The only big hurdle would be the brackets. And thats not even that big of a hurdle.

Im not to sure about this thou, i can eaither get the suzuki to toyota hi-steer but it has shorter steering arms becase it was designed to be used with a suzuki pitment arm.
I think i just might go with toyota hi-steer, get the longer arms and it should work fine.
Also i hope the tires wont run into the steering box, i might have to get some wheel spacers.
Ill just find that would when i get it together.

The Toy PS set up I have mounts the box in the stock location on the inside of the frame. It uses the pre IFS box set up. I am not sure if he is still in the business but the conversion kit I have came from Paul Easley, I hope I have his name correct. I bought the kit around 7yrs ago. It is a direct replacement bolt on when you get the Z-link with the Toy end on the box end of the link.

yeah, i bought some 1.5" wheel spacers cause i hear from a lot of places that the front axle can be 3 inches narrower than the rear. mine is, but im not sure is it is true for all of them. and for that steering box, hopefully it will fit on the inside... no matter what, there's gonna be so ghetto fabricating

J-ron, the 86+ axles are 3inch wider than the 79-85 rear axles.
are you going to get an off-set rear axle are attempt to run a stock rear toyota axle?
If you do get an off-set rear end from sky or someone else, they are made 3 inch wider, so pretty much a wheel spacer will be needed.
What year is the rear axle that you have?
79-85 are the same as the front axles and the 86 to 90 something axles are 3 inches wider.

I plan on heading to Sky-mfg some time next month to drop some axles off and have a rear off center axle made.  I don't want to deal with funky vibrations and things of that sort.

Theres nothing wrong with a little ghetto fabrication...If it holds then its all good and if it doesnt...nothing a little welding cant fix

The Toy box is mounted to the frame with a 1/2" adapter plate. The rear two holes line up with the Zuki rear holes but the front does not. The plate helps space the box away from the frame and supplies the area for the front bolt for the box along with the stock Zuki hole. The mounting holes are just holes though the frame, you mount the box in the stock location, you will need a pre-IFS box.

If I can find my tracings I took of the plate I would be happy to send them too you.
