Fuel Pump?
« on: August 21, 2007, 07:16:15 AM »
Anyone know if a fuel pump from a 1995 Sidekick 1.6 16 valve will work on a 1991 Tracker with a 1.6 8 valve motor? Really need to know ASAP. Thanks Ahead, George.

im just guessing here, but id say no that they will not work, the fuel pressure on mpfi engines is totally higher than the pressure in a tbi engine....but i may be wrong.....id check with a part store to verify the part numbers are the same before id try it out....

There are only 2 for these rigs, one is longer than the other. I'm betting the reason he wants to know is because one is about half the price of the other  :o I'm pretty sure they both have the same fittings, just one is longer.
I can't get the info right now, but you may find the answer on www.zuwharrie.com - there's info there(on the BBS) on fuel pumps, and a 199x Honda Accord fuel pump is the exact same and much much cheaper. If you were to search "honda accord" in their IFS section, I bet it would be on the top of the list!

FYI...

Quote from: ye110wbeard, Zuwharrie BBS
From "Japanense Used Auto Parts" in Toronto Ontario.  I just picked up the pump for my '92 Sidekick which is also the pump used by NUK for the 1990 to 1993 Honda Accord and the 1988 to 1992 Toyota Corolla.

The difference is actually price.  If it's ordered for a Honda it's $80, and if it's ordered for a Suzuki it's about $280 from Canadian Tire.

From NUK the part number on the box was KEP-403 195130-2250.

That $80 Canadian which has got to be about $50 US for the same part.  I had the two of them side by side.  the ONLY noticable difference was the shape of the mesh.

Hope this helps out any part hunters out there. Apparently almost all of the fuel pumps for the Japanese cars are from the same company and will have minor differences between the vehicles.  There was absolutely NO retrofitting between the pump made by NUK for the 1990 to 1993 Accord and my '92 Sidekick.

Neat eh?
