Scored on some wheels
« on: November 22, 2004, 01:11:39 PM »
Managed to find a set of used 15x8 wheels (3.75 backspace) ...

Cost ... $10 for the set of 4.

I'm goin to clean 'em up some (they got silver painted centers and edges). If they don't clean up well enough, I'll just paint 'em.

Now I gotta decide between 30x9.50 of 31x10.50 shoes. I've only got a 2" BL and 1" spacers, so the 30x9.50's are the safe bet, but I'd really prefer the 10.50's ...

Damn... looks like a decent deal for the wheels you got... hell, rusty-ass wagon wheels are probably worth $10 :o

The guy was selling as a "ford pattern" ... and they are 5x5.5 (so yea, ford 1/2 ton, or ranger?)

I had found another set much like these for $25, but the guy selling wasn't returning e-mail or phone calls, so I kept looking.

Seems the "chrome wagon wheels" are not the *bling* to have anymore, but they'll work for my purposes :)

up here in canada I just can't find those at all

I know they are called daytona if they are painted black

and I can find them through American Racing, and Unique
w/ a stock 3.75 backspacing

however I like the ones from US wheel with like 2.5" backspacing
but they aren't here in canada

and finding wagon wheels seems impossible as the only ones I can find here are at princess auto, and they only come by 5 x 4.5 at like a tiny 6" wheel size or 5 x 6

"nickle ads"
4x4 swap meets

you should be able to find something.

I have a 2"BL and 1" front coil spacers and I'm running 31x9.50x15 Swampers with no problems on basically the same rims. Mine are 15x8" ford 1/2 ton wagon wheels painted black and they have approx 3.5-3.75" of backspacing. Ranger wheels are 5x4.5" bolt pattern and wont fit on a Zuki. The only thing I had to do to the trucklet to fit the 31's was a little floorboard pounding at the back edge of the front wheel wells. National Tire and Wheel in Wheeling WV(also in full-page ads in 4wheel and offroad magazine) is having a sale on Swampers right now, $5 off each one. The TSL radials end up being $99 each for the 31" size(not counting shipping).
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Sounds like we have about the same setup...

I hadn't seen 31x9.50 until your post about the new treads. Not a common size, but nice that they fit well. I take it tho that 31x10.50's would be a bit more rubbing then if the 9.50's get that close.

I've seen em locally at around $110 ... not sure yet if I want the TSL radial tho. I'll probably start serious tire shopping in a week or so.

Yeah, I think the wider tire probably would rub a little more. That's why I went with the 9.50" size, that and the price;)
