« on: October 29, 2007, 07:59:49 AM »
I was planning on buying a new set of super swamper trxxus today and came across a good deal.
33x12.50x15 Cooper Discovery Mud Terrains for only $200.(3000 miles on em) Now the swampers are going to be around $700.So can I get some feedback on  those coopers before I buy.
Ive heard they are soft and wear out quickly,is that true?

I had the 30x10.50 Cooper STT mud terrain on my Tracker.  I let my alignment get a little out of control, prematurely wearing the fronts, but the backs still had about 9/32(Lots of tread) tread after approximately 70,000 kms (44,000 miles).  Great tire.  A couple years ago Cooper changed their design and put the nobby sidewalls on em.  They look nice.  I would buy them again!

PS I only got stuck in mud twice with them.  Both times the distributor got wet and stalled out.  If I could have kept the tires spinning, I'm sure I could say I was never stuck in mud.  Also, there not so good on ice. (no siping)

Well I went ahead and bought the coopers. They look just like BFG Mud terrains. I figured I can get a couple years out of these and save some coin for new seats!

PS I only got stuck in mud twice with them.  Both times the distributor got wet and stalled out.

Go down to the auto parts and buy a tube of dielectric grease. It is a grease which does not conduct electricity. Put it on all the primary electrical connections, where the cap meets the distributor, and on both ends of the plug wires. And from now on put it on every electrical connection you take apart. Not only will the connections come apart easier next time but it will stop water and corrosion from causing problems

I've heard the coopers are a good long lasting tire, and very tough also.  I've never heard them described as soft.

That's a good deal that you got on them.
