I covered this a few months back,
but searching the archive is a pain
I have the origional window crank handles
and other than the red drivers door which
is from a 89 or 90 Kick all the stock rubber.
You can remove the window and the regulator,
which is the thing that makes the window go
up and down.
To remove the window, take off the inner door
panel, I have a JLX so the panel wraps around
the top of the door and includes the inner rattle
strip. There will also be some plastic sheeting
which can stay if you want.
The window is held with 2 #3 phillips screws,
you must get a #3 driver or they don't
come out, they are tough. Remove the window
out thru the top of the door
Get the window crank off, and remove the 3 or 4
#3 screws that hold the regulator in place.
Now you can see what you are doing, the regulator
is a crank and some cables inside covers, and some
pullies, not real fancy. You can fold the whole thing
and remove it thru the hole in the door.
Now the lubing begins !!!
Get some Silicone Spray, it dries clear and
dry, no oily residue, and get some spray lithium
white grease
Use the grease on the cables, pullies, and the tracks
that the nylon sliders ride in, work the regulator
several times through the range up and down.
Use the silicone spray inside the door, in the
rubber/felt channels that the glass rides in, spray
the crap out of it, let it sit a few Min and spray it
again, do all of the channels inside the door and
in the upper frame and along the top
While you are in there use the grease on the
lock mechanism and the door handle pulls and
latches, don't get it on the rubber because it
will smear on the glass
Assemble the regulator into the door, replace
the window, and put the panel back on, and
move to the other door, repeat
This done every 3-5 years should be all that is
needed to keep the windows rolling smoothly
and the handles from breaking off
Enjoy
