Acceleration Issue
« on: November 09, 2007, 08:22:58 AM »
My 93 tracker has started acting sort of strange...  Every now and then when I hit the gas and try to accelerate out of a stop the engine will actually slow down for about 5-10 seconds before picking up and actually accelerating.  A couple of times it's been so bad I thought it was going to stall, but so far it hasn't quit yet.  Compression test is 165-170 on all cylinders, timing is between 8 and 10 * BTDC,  I've got a cone filter on the intake, and a Thorley header piped into a high-flow cat and cherry bomb muffler.  Am planning on doing a valve adjustment this weekend.

The hesitation is always in the lower gears, although the highway speeds aren't quite as good as they used to be.

Any ideas?

I have pretty much the same issue!  Even from low idle shifting, or gassing from mid gear at first accel it bogs and sputters, then it takes off.  Sorrry I can help you.  I need help too.
