Near Stock 88 Sami Gas Mileage
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:57:19 AM »
What kind of gas mileage can be expected from a near stock 88 Sami, 29's  and running interstate speeds (65-70).

My Suburban is sucking down $120/wek in gas right now and I found what looks to be a decent sami for a 2g's. If it will cut my gas cost in half (or close) It would pay for itself in a few months.

Are the Sami's as dependable as the Kicks when they get up in mileage (150K+)

I have a friend in town that has a stock sammie that gets 47 mpg at 4300 ft. elevation I think you would have to go back to a stock size tire for mileage and speed, on the lasting issue I think it would depend on who owned it befor and how often the fluids were changed out, it has to beat a cebby on gas on it's worst day I would guess.

*cough* bullshiat *cough* ...

47 mpg? no friggin way. let me drain that tank, pour in one gallon, and I'll give him a full tank if he makes it to where I'll be 40 miles away.

I get 27 or 28 with stock tires in the summer and it drops to 25 during the colder months and thats at around 2000 ft. I guess it would drop some with 29s.

You know you want it, so just buy it. You can at least justify buying it for 20 + miles per gallon minimum. It needs a good home anyways. 8)

I get 27-28MPG with ~28" tires on my 91 EFI.  I use to get about 31-32, but after one long highway trip, it decided to go to 27-28 and stay there.....don't know why.
Tracker and Sidekick parts for sale.....PM me with your wants/needs.

My 88 stocker gets around 25 with some 27" swampers!  I think with some tuning it could get a little better, but the part I'm not sure about was the freeway speeds!!!  Either mine really sucks but i couldn't get to much of that kind of speed and in fact it got fairly hairy at those speeds!!  Unless you go down hill both ways you will get alot of one finger waves in traffic!! :P
