KIC THAT SPUTTERS??????
« on: December 07, 2007, 08:14:36 AM »
I HAVE A KICKER THAT ONLY WHEN WARM AND UNDER FULL THROTTLE MISSES AND IT DOESN"T DO IT ALL THE TIME. I have put a new comp. in new fuel pump and filter and coil .any other suggestions??????? ??? ??? ??? I"m losing my mind over this.It seams that when my wife is on the throttle going up a hill or coming out of a mud hole is when it happens most{under load}.Could it be a fuel preassure problem?????

Could just be a missfiring plug ... I had that exact symptom (and I think CrikeyMike did too) ...
In both cases it was our #3 plug wire either broken or not properly connecting to the plug.

Note: in my case it would idle just fine, and a timing light would show the plug wire firing ...

I also would agree that low fuel pressure can result in a similar symptom.

I agree,it is most likely related to a plug or plug wire. You might want to put a fuel pressure gauge on it just to be sure.

Only missing after warming up is a classic coil problem, the coil expands when warm and can then seperate, but close agian when cold.  said you changed coil but may be bad too.  not likely but can only try different ones to eliminate as problem.  my 94 kick would miss bad one day and be fine the next.  but it missed cold or hot.  ended up being a short in the wireing harness.  It drove me mad and I drove it mad.

I had a Jeep YJ that would sputter whenever I started cruising down the road but was fine under acceleration.  Ends up it was the Oxygen sensor.
