Shift on the fly 4wd - sammi
« on: December 11, 2007, 08:46:51 PM »
Does the sammi tcase suffer any damage by shifting from 2wd to 4hi and back while moving w/o using the clutch?  I'm assuming I don't need to come to a complete stop or anything.

It's best to use the clutch but you don't need to stop!

As long as the front end is locked in, no.

The case does not have a sincro (sp?).  So as long as the front drive shaft and rear drive shaft are going the same speed, there's no problem.  If there not you will feel the gears grinding.

Thanks for the info.  I think this is my first ride in about a decade that wasn't full shift on the fly, couldn't remember if I was doing it right   I'm once again enjoying everything that manual hubs has to offer.
