I would re-arch before buying new springs. When we re-arched the drivers side a pipe bender was used. The spring pack was dismantled, then pressure put on the spring with the bender. Tapped it with a mini-sledge along the arch to help it bend a bit. Then put in the next spring and repeated. It's worked so far, but probably won't hold up as long as a professional job.
The main problem I had with a standard SPOA was the tires rubbing on the back of the fender with 33x12.5 tires and 3.5" of backspacing. A bit of time with a hammer fixed that problem.
One thing to be careful of is most people start breaking things once you reach the 33" tire range. It depends on your driving style and how much traction your tires grab. With the Chromoly shafts now available you can just upgrade your axle with a plug and play part, but they are 500+.
Depending on where you are at someone with a pair of 33" tires might be close by and willing to let you try them out.
