what is the narrowest tire I can run on an 16" rim 8" wide? I wanted to run a narrow tire (I'm only interested in snow travelling), but I bought 8" rims. I know, should have stayed with 7's, but I thought someone down the road might want wider. Tire shop says 245's are as narrow as I can go. Any narrower is a plus to me. Will a 235 make it on an 8 wide? I originally wanted to go with 215's, but they look REAL narrow next to those 8" rims.

Why don't you squeeze those 235s or 245s on the stock rims???
save the wide rims for wider tires.

I run 235's on 8 inch wheels on my Suburban and that is what Chevy put on it.So I guess it is okay.

yup...i just bought my wheels....8" wide 3" b/s...my 235's fit pretty good...not too much tire bluges past the rim...definatly works offroad.....i just havnt put my wider tires on these rims because im in michigan.....skinny tires work in snow better than my wide ones....so thats a spring project!
