Fuel pump o.k. Check that then electrical. How are your wires etc? How's the timing set? How does the timing belt look? Those are my ideas. If you give it gas and it get's worse, maybe the gas isn't igniting so your flooding it. That's why I would check something electrical.

if it stumbles for just a second and then revs up it could be the vacune advance line.  it runs from the distributor to the intake or it could just be any vacume line problems.

It sounds like the carb isn't tuned.  When did it start doing this?

Since you have changed out all of the fuel system. Take a look at the distributor, Timing could be off or something could be wrong with the vacuum or mechanical advance.

He changed carbs and gets the same results ??? Make sure all the vacuum lines are connected right and check for vacuum leaks too.

played with it some more and it now idles & I can rev it up & sounds good until I try to move it I have checked & re checked for vacuum leaks all lines look like the stock samurai in my drive way  this isnt mine so I asked when it started running bad & the guy says it was running fine then he broke a t/c & limped it home & it sat for a month then he put a different t/c in & it ran bad could barley move it.. another thing this motor used to be a tbi motor so it has aftermarked electric pump  which is now a new one but it worked for about a year w/ no issues from this  I have checked timing & with the timing mark at 0 the distributor is pointing at #1 Ive tried setting timing by ear to get it to move but no luck (ive done this b-4 )  I have spare parts so mabee Ill swap distributor & see if it makes a difference

As it is a Samurai it does not have a torque converter so I would have too say it is the transfer case.

if it sat it could be just something as simple as water in the gas. drain all the gas out and put a bunch of dry gas with some new gas in

Spitfire,

Just for S&G's why not take the timing belt cover off and make sure that the timing marks are in their correct position? When the TC blew maybe it caused the belt to jump a tooth or two and is out just enough to cause your problems.

As I was typing that I had a thought, is the vacuum can on the side of the distributer any good? If the diaphragm is shot it may be causing you this problem.

Do you have access to a FSM? If so, check out page 2-4. I would copy it and post it for you but not sure about copy right stuff. And there is too much typing to try that route.

was running fine then he broke a t/c & limped it home
hmmm yall may be right that t/c could mean transfer case ...

I'm now guessing maybe t/c == timing chain (ya I know it's "belt")

So, like phloop said pull the front cover ... probably a toasted belt.
