how hard is 1.6 8 valve fuelinjection swap
« on: January 10, 2008, 04:52:31 PM »
Hey guys!

Im planing on doing the 1.6 8 valve swap. I was going to buy the kit from trail tough with the harness. But i was wondering how had it is to do the wireing? Im pretty good at that sort of thing! Done some honda swaps! Just figured i could save some money! Do you have to do anyhting to my speedo? My sammy is an 86 and the motor is out of an 89 tracker.

Any help is great!

Tom

If you're good at that sort of thing then it should be pretty easy. Mark up all the connectors as you remove them from the Tracker. The 89 is a little different from later models so you can't rely on the usual wiring diagram. Strip out all the unwanted wires and retape it. Theres only about 8 wires that need to be connected into the Sammy loom. The speedo needs the VSS from the Track/Kick mounted to the rear of it. I think the TT harness is about $300, well worth it if you don't have the skills/patience but $300 does buy a lot of beer  ;D
