I don't think you have the correct terminoligy. The torque convertor bolts to the flywheel. Or some call it a flexplate. Wrong part dude!

Correct me if i am wrong. But aren't a manual and auto flywheel totally different? Auto has no face on it?
Tranny 101!! there's no flywheel in a automatic, it's a torque converter...just to let you know!!
So what does the torque convertor bolt to then? Smartass!
Ring gear!!

Ok now show me where in this past conversation I once said that a torque convertor will bolt to a standard flywheel. I made a point that they are different. Then you stepped in and told me autos don't have a flywheel they have a torque convertor. You are right about the convertor part. But what does that covertor bolt to. A flywheel! An auto flywheel, not standard. Get your facts straight dude!

I dont know if this could be a factor for you or not but I bought a 66 F100 years ago and the previous owner had replaced the engine. He put an engine out of an automatic in it and did not put the flywheel from the standard back in and it vibrated like hell at higher RPMs. I changed the flywheel back to a standard and it was like new again.    Just a point tgo ponder.

I am not here to pick a fight either! Just defending myself. You came accross cocky with the whole tranny 101 thing. When you want to prove someone wrong have your facts straight. I am just hear to learn and share knowledge and experiences.

:o  I'll try to keep my questions from stirring things up in the future ... ;D

So, does anyone know how many pounds the tranny/t-case combo is and where the balance point for it is?

Ok its my turn to appoligize for my error. It was 30 yrs ago and a lot of alluminum cans.  The truck I bought had a 6 cyl 4spd and the guy had put in a 289 and used the flywheel from the 6 banger.
I originally thought it was possibly the harmonic ballancer but after talking with a backyard mechanic he suggested a flywheel from a 289. I pulled the tranny & clutch, buzzed off the flywheel changed it out,  I dont remember if I changed the clutch and pressure plate  but when I put er all  back together she ran real good.  Sorry for the brainfart.

Just so you all know I think this is a great info sharing site and it has helped me to understand these little Zukes
Keep up the good work guys
