Hey guys, I have been lurking here for a while, great stuff on this site!

I have a 1990 Geo Tracker, it's my every day driver to work I have neglected it for a couple years all I do is change oil and filters it's got 145k and still running good.

Anyway I am about to start fixing her up for my son who will have his drivers lisence next year. It will be an every day driver and hunting rig.

I do not have much of a budget so most of the mods will be made by myself as I have access to our metal fab shop at work.

The input I am looking for is that I want a 4" lift while keeping it safe to drive for my son.  Right now I am looking at putting in spring and strut spacers with the crown vic shocks and a 2 or 3" body lift.
 
I will make my own tube bumpers and possibly my own body lift, the linkage mods are not big deal but I want it to handle well on the road at the same time.

I will be using 235 75 R15 tires.

thanks for any input on what I need to do to keep it road worthy

With the 235/75/R15 tires you don't actually need a lift.  They will fit on the vehicle stock, so a spacer lift will probably be enough to get you by without any tire rub

Jeff1997 sells a great spacer lift.  I run a 3/4" front and 1" rear spacer in my Tracker and have been pretty satisfied with it for running around back roads.  :)

BRECK, I was in the same boat as you when I fixed up my 97 Sport. I just drove until the tranny went out then I decided to fix it up. I run a 2" coil spacer lift all around. I would recomend a combo of 1.5" in the front and 2" in the rear. You will need to replace the rear shocks and modify the front strut mounts to accept this lift but all can be done for about $150 or less. If you are wanting any coil spacers please contact me at: hoepkers|removethispart|@charter.net. I make and sell them. I sell the combo set for $80 to the US or $85 to Canada. Thanks for the reply's guys, thanks for the offer and info on your spacers jeff, I will probably take you up on that.

I want to make the tracker look as cool as possible not just tire clearence, yet safe, is the 3" body lift too much? or dos'nt it effect the handling that much.

Without going with larger tires I think it would be a bit much.  The 2+3 lift is usually for running 31" tires.  But it's all in your mind, I just like my vehicles to look a bit low slung.  :)

Personally I run 31's so I needed the 3" body. I could have gotten away with a 2" though. I think a 2" body and the spacers will look the best and still be plenty safe. I also use 1.5" wheel spacers, they give it a 3" wider stance thus more stability.

Couple questions, info on the strut mount flip? and the wheel spacers where would I find those?

I looked up your spacers on e-bay and it sounds like you have the instructions I need on the strut mount.

so all I am looking for is the wheel spacers

I do not include instructions on the strut mount. They are on this sight with great pics and everything you need. I got my wheel spacers from ebay. They are some place in CA, I'm not sure of the name. A set of 4 ran me $120. Compared to Spidertrax at $120 a PAIR. The bolt pattern you will need is 5 on 5.5 with a center opening of 118mm. Hope this helps.

Here's a picture of my with a 3" calimini syspention lift and a 3" body lift before the new tires.  Old tires are 235/75/15's.  If I was leaving the 235's I'd do the susption only.  If nothing else do the suspention first and see.




Here's one with only the 3" susption lift.
