Samurai carb

Samurai carb

How many of you guys are using a stock 1.3 carb?  My zuk has been sitting for a couple of years and the carb needs to be gone thru.  I'm just wondering if it is worth the hassle to rebuild the stock carb or not.    Is the Weber the way to go?  I see the Weber does not have all those electric connections that the stocker does.  Will I have to do anything else to keep the brain happy?

I had a weber back when I still had a 1.3. I hated the thing! I have friend still running his and he doesn't like it much either. We seem to constantly have to fiddle with it to keep it in tune and it stalls out when it gets off camber. The stock carb really isn't that bad. I would say rebuild it and go.

I ran a weber for 2 years . the only time it was a problem was steep rockcrawling.  on the road it ran great. . all depends what you do with your zuk

I don't plan to do any rock climbing(no rock piles in FL) just playing in the mud.  Has anybody tried the Hyundai Pony carb?  Are there any other options out there?  That stock carb seems way too complicated.

I run the petroworks harley side draft and I like it except it is a little temperamental when it's cold. Has to warm up because it leans when it's cold I think. Here's a link to another version that costs less and gives you the ability to run a snorkel easier.  I haven't had to mess with mine since I put it in. I think I wish I had bought this one though.  I've had a weber and I like this set up better. + the guy that sells them just joined Zukiworld. ;D Here's the link, look for the side draft carb.

Dude thats too cool.  I really like that a lot.  It looks clean and simple.  With that kit,  all those wire connections to the carb just go away?  My goal is to be done with any computer controls, like a Chevy with a Holley.  Will I still need the oxygen sensor on the exhaust?

Can we start a poll on what carb your running and if your happy


I need to do something soon with my carb and want to go with what works good for mud and wont break the bank.  My stock carb sucks right now. 

Stock rebuild?
Weber?
HD Sidedraft?
Pony?
Other?

I've heard stock rebuilds are hit and miss for a good one + expensive. Better gas mileage but you have all the crap. Fuel injection is expensive and more difficult to install  but ideal for fuel efficiency and dependability. I think the zor carb is comparable (possibly a bit more) than a weber but imho (at least with the petro) mostly dummy proof. You can get replacement harley carbs brand new pretty cheap. Mukuni sidedrafts are another option. The pony carb I think is the cheapest way to go. You can usually pick one up cheap and they do away with all the vacuums. I've heard they have better throttle response than the hitachis too.

With my harley side draft, great power but my mileage has plummeted so far for the colder months having to warm it up. If you are in a warmer climate though, you would be pretty happy with it.

I am running a weber on mine and i love it... Great on the road and have done a little off roading, i put a post up earlier. all the wiring goes away. pretty easy swap and power plus
