Skip....
I have a 86 Samurai that I put a Weber on with the E-choke a few months ago. I bought it for under 3 bills off of eBay with everything needed to install, I was even able to use the stock air cleaner. I really like it.

Hope this helps,
Dennis

The Samurai Weber kits come with an adapter plate that goes onto your existing manifold.  Other then tuning it is pretty much a bolt on affair.

If your looking at new carb alternatives, there are also the side draft conversions available as well.

When you put your new Weber on were you able to do away with all the smog stuff?  Could you explain what you needed and what you did not need anymore as far as emissions stuff.  Does the engine still need the ECU with the Weber?

Skip,
Don't forget Weber also has a water choke version for your Samurai also... Same as your stock carb.

i'm sure yours has a water choke.
the kit is easy to install- should come with enough instruction.
i am also using my stock air cleaner. i'm sure the 'weber" one would work fine, i just wanted the engine to look stock.

Hey if we could continue this a little longer. I am very curious about the emission and vacuum stuff concerning swapping to the weber. Here in Western Washington I am going to have to pass the emissions for a couple of more years.

I could not tell you about emissions.... I registered mine out of town to bypass that......But when I tried I failed!!!!!  Then tried to do a quick tune up and went back and still Failed!!! So thats when I decided to register mine out of town... I don't know if should rebuild mine or get a weber????  Aftermarket carbs seem to work for alot of people...but I don't have three bills right now.  But my carb is flooding out....when I push the gas pedal down all the way it bogs down...so I hope it is the carb ???
