strut spacer = flipping the mount?  Yes, No?
Flipping the mount is another way to extend it.

Strut flip = 3/"' or 2"?  Is this better than the 2" extensions sold by Boondox?

if you search through the gen 2 section you will find a thread somewhere that has has compressed and extended lengths of several rear shocks which have been used.

Thanks!  Just wondering if Ranger springs would be better than 2" spacers.  That would be the last of my questions. I have pretty much decided to go 2" susp, and 2" body lift.  I would also like to lift the gas tank as well.  I saw a DIY thread on that but it included some frame cutting.  Definately more than I want with that.  Thanks for your help!

Mallard I made my own out of nylatronon my lathe there are a few options for making them yourself. And a guy on here JEFF1985 (I think) sells them for a good price if you don't want to frig with them.
Bzzzr2 from what your saying the 95 mustang shock is a better replacement than the crown vic.And it's a straight bolt in with more travel ?? Both bonuses ! I'll check the price out tomorrow.
Thanks!

i want to put a plug in for jeff's spacers.

get the 2" for the rear, but unless you have some big winch on the front, 1 1/2" in front keeps it pretty level (i bought 4- 2"ers and tried them in front. took it all apart, cut 1/2" off and reinstalled).
i'm quite happy now.

not necessary, but you might think about making some spacers for your flipped strut mounts. i used 1/2" pvc sheet.

i also used mustang rear shocks. bottom line monroes. direct bolt in.

Did you compare the extended lenght with the sidekick shock? ...just wondering how much longer they are.

yes

also check the shock book at the parts store- there were some longer shocks, but i was afraid of spitting springs if i dropped things too far- the book has compressed and extended measurements and mounting styles.

sorry
i just realized i didn't actually answer your question- and i forget the exact measurements-but they were a little more than 2" longer (extended) and very similar compression span.

they allow pretty decent movement and ride soft.

I would guess the mustang shocks would be best saved for 2" and higher lifts because anything lifted less than that would risk ejecting the springs under full droop. The shocks are the only thing that limit down-travel in the rear of a kick...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

So with a 2" spring spacer I shouldn't have any problem?? I don't want to be ejecting springs!

i have a 1.75 inch spacer and xl7 coils which are only 1/2 inch longer than my stock tracker springs were.  the coils are solid at full droop with rustang shocks.  can't promise anything for sure though as mine is a 2003.

Maybe this will help...

Suzuki shock; 12.12" compress
                    18,25" extend
                    6.125" travel

crown vic shock; 12.12"compress
                         20." extend
                        7.87" travel

mustang shock; 14.5 compress
                       19.12 extend
                       4.6 travel

i've got that from Monroe spec sheet...
and i also get those part number for the strut, here they are #71962 and #171831 i don't know what they are for, someone will need too compared them, because i'm not sure if they fit....

the mustang specs are not for the same mustang shock that i am using, wish i had the actual part number to share with you guys.

with all this chatter about shocks and different measurements coming up i would suggest getting into a parts shop and doing a true hands on comparison!!  grab a zuki shock, crown vic shock and a mustang shock; compress and extend them all and go for it.  with the mustand shocks there may be more than one version, i am not sure... so go for the ultra cheapos like myself & rascott.
