tire sizes on ur rig
« on: October 19, 2004, 05:50:33 AM »
i was wondering what type of wheeling every one does and what type and size tires they use.

i run alot of mud, water, sand, and ossasionally go rock crawling. however i have found that my 31" tsl swampers need to be 34 or 35 to run 4and 5 calss rock trails.

also does anyone run the kicker 3 daul case set up.

I'm running 31 procomp muds with 3" suspension and 2" body, and I do just fine pretty much everywhere. I was up at Apex mountain here in BC and ran a class 7 trail rating for the jeep jambeoree. Made it half way without much problem. Only thing that stopped us from going further (jeeps and toys included) was it was very slick and nobody really wanted major damage being everyone was really far from home and wanted to drive it back  ;D ;D ;D. But some of the rocks definately needed 35" tires or bigger. I drove out of there with a scuffed rear diff and a dented gas tank... I have belly skid plates. But On the other hand I feel us zukis being nice and compact I can pick a nice line and drive around the major rocks.

Here are some of the pics..

We run just about any thing here (no sand though). A single trai in tellico will have loose dirt, mud rock hills, you name it. I run 33x12.50 Goodyear MTR's. Alot of people run these in the area and they have great bite in most any terrain.

I typically run moderate trails.  The terrain is usually dry, rocky, with some loose, mogully, steep hills, little mud and no sand.  And snow in the winter.

For tires, I have 30x9.50 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/As.  Not the largest tires by any means, but I haven't broken anything yet (fingers crossed), and my gearing isn't too far off.

It's up at Apex mountain, it's around Penticton, British Columbia. It was cool and raining. The main reason we where bundled up was that the place was just crazy with misquitos, ate everyone alive with or without bug spray.

i run 31"x10.5" on 15"x8" rims. have had no problems so far, and the MT/Rs are a pretty good all rounder, as there is loose dirt/gravel, mud, sand, hills (loose and rocky) and mud. did i mention mud as well?

anyway, where i am, there's not a whole heap of bog rocks and boulders as you would find in rock crawling, so obviously i dont do it, i'd love to though.

i should've got 32"s, as i have enough room for them to fit and not rub on everything. but for what i'm doing, my vit is sweet.

Get some stronger driveline components first. I cannot stress this enough.
