yj springs

yj springs

i was talking to a member about yj springs. they may be called somthing else. from what he said sounds pretty good. input about them?instalation,price,parts/equepment? for a 98 suzuki sidekick

Thats a whole bunch of work putting YJ springs under your rig. Are you ready to put a solid axle under the front of your kick?

YJ Springs are from a Jeep YJ.  You basically are changing from a coil to a more classical setup.  It's a bit of work, but easier if you are swapping in a solid front axle then building a new 4 link.  :)

i was planing on just converting my IFS into solid axel, and willing to do w/e it takes to do so. do i need to swap out my solid rear axel?or will that be fine?i'm not looking for 4 link setup

If you are putting a Toyota front axle in you might as well swap the rear at the same time.  Otherwise you need to get a spacer for the rear and either a spacer that converts over to the Toyota lug pattern or run two different wheels, one for front and one for back.

Do a search on the board for Solid Axle Swaps and you will find quite a few.  There was a great writeup a few months ago where someone did the Toyota axles with YJ springs.

You dont HAVE to, but its better if you did, to match the front.  If you find rearends from 85 and older.... Its hella cheap.  86 and newer... cost a lil bit more.  Like Drone said, you will have different lug patterns.  Like in our kicks, we have 5x5.5, Toyota has 6.5x5 or its 6x5.5 Whichever it is.

Axles, Rims, some fabricatings and weldings.... I recommend you to swag drivelines, they are stronger.  :)

Expect to Spent at least maybe $1000 for this conversion for rear and front.  Unless you're very lucky.  Getting the axles and parts for Less like I said in other post.

So the fact I should be getting and 83 front end, and an IFS rear end and spacers to match em up for $300 shouldn't happen?  ;D

Yes, shouldnt happen.  But you got a good deal.  :)

In back day, when the zuki owners werent really aware of using toyota drivetrains.  The axles and parts were almost everywhere.... And they were free to 200 bucks.  And now, that everyone are aware of what's going on and what we can use.  Its almost impossible to find one for good deal.  Unless youre willing to fork more cash.  THe demand is there. 

Again..... IFS rearend and Front end for 300. *shakes head* Good deal.
