Maybey a small favor...
« on: February 25, 2008, 01:01:30 PM »
I am currently in the process of fabing up my own bumpers (front and rear)  I have a shop with endless supplies at my disposal and I cant figure out a way to make bolt on brackets front and rear.  I have looked at many of the pictures of the calmini front bumpers and ARB bull Ect. but just cant get it rite.  Once again i bit off alittle more than I can chew with this project.   If anyone would take the time to give advice, or even better (measurments with detailed pictures) of the bumper and mounting brackets, that would be great!  THANKS
I cant wait till my dad finds out how much dimond plate steel i have waisted.......

Justin,
I tried bolt on with my pre0runner winch bumper but after some abuse I had to weld it any way.  Make it how you like it and weld the sucker to the frame.  >:D If I can find some old close up pics of the bumpers mounting points I will post them for you, but I think I lost them when my lap top crashed last year  :-\

i wouldnt reccomend welding it directly to the frame...ive been in the process of making a bash guard/bumper for my tracker as well, i was going to weld it on.....sure am glad that i didnt weld it on there.... when i blew my last engine up i took the core support and all that good stuff outta there and it made it so much simpler with the front of the truck off to the side in the barn, and if i had my bash guard on there i wouldnt have been able to remove everything from it....my new plan is to fab some "tabs" that will bolt it to the outer edge where the factory bumper bolts, and also some down lower near where my skid plate mounts inbetween the front control arm brackets....just an idea, thou...im just glad i didnt have my bumper done before i toasted my engine...

nice name by the way man....im justin too!!
good luck!

For some reason i am thinking way to much into this project by trying to make it work and look perfect..  My mind isnt figuring out a way to make a simple bumper bracket, this is why i was looking for pictures and measurments of something that worked.  Eventually i will weld the bumper in place (it can always be cut off)  But for the meantime i want to bolt it on. Whatever help will not go unappreciated.
Yes i do agree Justin is a great name haha
