lift kit and tires
« on: March 01, 2008, 12:34:37 PM »
Is there anything out there that tells you what size tires and rims you can fit with what size lift kit.  I have a 96 Sidekick 4wd 4 door.  I am looking to put either Calmini's 3 inch body lift or possibly the 3 inch suspension and the 3 inch body lift.  So far I have found nothing that tells me what size tires I can fit with either one.  I am looking to have a little wider of a rim with a little different offset of rim that will give the truck a little wider stance and better stability.  My tuck has P215/65R16 with 6X16 rims.

This question comes up all the time, there should be tons of information on this site...
You just have to use the search bar.

Good luck

Calmini has a tire chart on their web site. When you click on the suzuki page, the right side of the screen is shaded in black, there should be a tire chart in that list.

No tire chart that I can find on the Calmini website.  Maybe it is my browser but I am thinking not.

I should have mentioned.  I ordered the Calmini 3" body lift kit today.  In the future I would like to order the 3" suspension lift kit.  I would like a little wider stance to increase stability.  I would like to find a rim and tire package that would be compatiable with both.  My plan is to go with a wider rim and tire package with an offset on the rim to bring it out about 2-3 inches out from the wheel well then stock.  I am wondering if there is any place to find that info.  I want to get the rims and tires prior to the 3" suspension lift.

Any help would be appreciated.  I find the search very cumbersome on this forum and I would appreciate any info.  Thank you.

It kind of sounds like you have a Sport, especially if you have stock 16" wheels and tires on it. If so, you are stuck doing something like an Old Man Emu and body lift. Unfortunately no one makes a suspension lift for the Sport models at this point that I'm aware of. I might be looking into seeing what it would take to put together a real lift for one of these later this year. I'll let ya know what I can figure out.
97 Sport
265/70-16s
2" lift
2.0 swap
I know...Pretty boring... FOR NOW...

I found on Calmini's website a 3 inch suspension lift for a 4 door.  I ordered the 3 inch body lift and I am looking for a new rim and tire combo that will work with just a 3 inch body lift.  In the future I would like to add the 3 inch suspension lift.

Any idea what size tire and rim will work or where I can find this info.  I want the tire to be about 3 inches outside of the wheel well.  You were right it is a sidekick sport.  Good call.  I am new to the tracker sidekick stuff.  Thanks for the info.

Here you go, Link!   :D

http://www.puresuzuki.com/tire_chart.htm

Or from the Calmini Site:

Suzuki Sidekick / Vitara / Geo Tracker

Equipped with 3" Suspension Lift System
Tire Size 30" x 9.5"   Rim Size 15" x 7" / 15" x 8" Backspacing 3" - 3.5"

Equipped with 6" Combo Suspension System ( Suspension Plus Body Lift )
Tire Size 32" x 9.5"  Rim Size 15" x 7"  Backspacing 2" - 2.5"

These are the Maximum that Calmini Recommends - However, I found that with some Wheel / Rim Manufactures,  3 " or greater backspacing may contact the brake caliper. I have 3" backspacing with the Eaton Heavy-Duty Steel Wheels and had to grind a little of the caliper casting to get it to fit. Just something you should consider when choosing a wheel or rim, the way it's manufactured with the dish from the lugs to backspacing. (My Wheels are 15" x 8" with 3" Backspacing and 32" x 10.5" TSL  Swamper Radials. If I had to do it again, I'd go with 30" or 31"tires with a wider tread width on these rims. Oh, and I have the Calmini 3"+3" or 6" Suspension Combo lift. FYI)

Thank you for the link Rollovr.  For some reason I could not find it before.  Jeff.  What is the cost of your spacers?  Will it change the ride characteristics of the vehicle and if so how?  Do you have a website?  What rims do you run on your sport?  What backspacing are they?  Thank you in advance for answering all my questions.
