More low down power
« on: October 18, 2004, 02:45:23 AM »
New to this forum but know theres answers to all questions.

Any ideas for getting more low down torque from
93 1.6 EFI 4D Vitara JLX
trying to put off rockcrawler gears for awhile.

2x Hyclones, Bosch Platinum+4 plugs, Uni Filter, Extractors and 2" sporty exhaust.
2 1/2" spring lift all round using Gemini coils in the back with 5/8" spacers.
Long travel Rancho 9000s and bolt on brackets to move the top back about 10", makes the shocks work better.
2" machined spacer on top of diff.
OME soft ride struts and stretched and reset original Vit front coils, took time to work out the right length to stretch the coils.
Home made rock rails and front and rear tow bars.
3500Lb winch on bracket to hook on tow bars.
29x7.5 x15 Simex Extreme Trackers.
11 1/4"clearance under the front crossmember.

Rockcrawler gears and diff locks when funds allow.

All work done by my self like a lot of you blokes.
Thanks to all

Welcome the Zukiworld. It sounds like youve done quite a bit of work on the Vitara 8) I gained some power with the Calmini Header and a flowmaster exhaust, but I have not done any thing else to the motor. Axle and T-case gears will help alot.

Hawk Suzuki has a cam for the 16v designed to improve power up to 4000rpm.

Petah, how did you strech your coils and then heat treat them?

Petah, where abouts are you?

and do you have pics?

i don't know much about gaining more torque on the efi 16v, or anything else at that, but theres a long wheel base sierra thats running a supercharged efi 1.6L. that thing hammers!

could you post some pics of the rear shock mounts you said worked better, i'm interested.

thanks, and welcome even though i'm kinda new myself.

got news on the LWB Sierra!

i spoke to the guy who owns it. its standard 1.3L, stock head, pistons, and internals.

has approx 110HP at rear WHEELS!

it runs on straight LPG and does not use petrol, it has a complicated set up, using a supercharger off a toyota 4AGZE motor, through a mazda factory intercooler, internal wastegate, twin BOVs, electric thermo fan and electric water pump, and is running good at the moment.

they still want to do more work and refine the set up more.  he said he's running at 8psi, but has had it at 24psi (but undrivable)

a complex set up that works. he doesn't wheel it much, more of a maller kinda thing. 33" all terrains, stock driveline.
