im looking at a stock 1996 4 dr sidekick sport, and i was wondering if in the future, i could put some 30's on there and maybe a lift, or do they suck for offroad?

Unless you like to fabricate or make things 'work', you will be limited in the aftermarket supply for the Sport model. There has been many people that made first generation sidekick aftermarket work on their sports though. I believe a search in this section for 'sport' will give you some ideas.

I have a 97 4dr. Sport with a 2" coil spacer lift and 3" body lift with 31-11.5-16" Swampers. It does not suck! I can't post pics on here but go to ebay and search Suzuki coil spacer and you can see pics of it. The same body lifts and coil spacers will work for the Sport and other Kicks. The 1.8L is a little hard to find parts for but not too bad. It is a big improvement in power though. If you have any questions about my Kick just ask.

I have two trackers (2 door) and a sami all of wich im streching wheel bases, swappin in 16 valve engines and wishin they were more roomy, so basicly im trying to build what your starting with! try it out stock im sure you will be impressed

I ran my 1993 4 door Kick in Moab this year and really liked it.  I was able to climb up hills that my Sami couldn't do.  The room is great, I had all my gear behind the rear seat and had room for 4 people.  I blew up the front aluminum housing backing out of Mickey's hot tub on Hells Revenge (duh). 33" tires, 3" calmimi suspension lift, 4:1, spooled rear, disc brakes rear, Hagen widening, blah blah blah.
 This is on a trail 30 miles north of Moab (don't know the name, it was by wild rose trail?)

my 2 dr does good but i've heard that the 4 dr are better for crawlin and climbing.

I have a 4 door (not a Sport though). It rips around pretty good with 31's on it. They will fit if you have proper backspacing on your wheels, at least a 1.5" coil spring spacer lift, and a 2" body lift, and some fender bashing. If you're into more tough trails though, put some gears in it otherwise you will kill the clutch as I have just done. I enjoy the extra space most of the time. The only downside is the breakover angle is a little less than a shorty, but just drive smart and you should be able to handle it.

PS: The 1.8L the Sport has might handle the 31's better than my 1.6
