How do I reinstall Fuel filler hose?
« on: October 17, 2004, 08:33:21 AM »
I have installed a 2" body lift.  What is the best way to lengthen and reattach the fuel filler hose to the body?

Loosen the claps and slide the hose out about 1/2" on either end. That'll do it.

In write-ups on the bigger body lifts I've seen the hose cut in two (in the middle) and a section of pipe added between the two halves with hose clamps.

I'm curious, does anyone know if there is a generic hose that can be used for the filler?

Yeah!  This girl loves her tracker.  I am looking forward to building it into a more capable trail rig.  Not that stock was too bad, but it needs more ground clearence for sure.  Before the tracker I had a Samurai, wish now I would have kept it.  But ya know the tracker has a bit better ride, better seats, P/S and A/C soooo.....

When I 1st got the lift kit I was thinking who could I have install it.  Then one day I thought heck if I am going to drive it,  I better get under there and figure out how to do this buildup myself, even if I am just a girl.  Good thing I was paying attention when I hung out with my Dad while he fixed things.  It's amazing how good it feels to know you did it yourself!   Now I am thinking what can I sell to buy a new front Calmini bumper :D  Anyone interested in an 85 Honda ATC 250sx?  he, he  Oh then theres the bigger tires I'll need, and oh yeah the lockers or the limited slip, hum don't forget some skid plates...So anyhow I'm figuring between another $2000 and $3000 in aftermarket parts huh?!  Oh well, still best to be a trackeraholic than an alcoholic or drug addict for me.

Also I just thought of another question... should I cut into the floor behind my shifter or have the shifter modified and how so?  It has a hard time going and staying in 2nd, 4th, and reverse.  My transfer case shifter is all but disapeared beneath its dust boot.

Thanks to everyone for being here!  Happy Trails!

I think most of the body lifts use
an extended shifter method to get
the sticks back up where they look
and work normal.

The smaller you can do the better,
like for a 2" lift 1-1/2" will work, I
think I went 3" for a 4" body lift, and
I have some body to 4x4 selector
hitting, knocks it out of 4-low somtimes.

That or I have some worn mounts
that's letting the T-case and Trans move
about , I never had this problem before,
and it's getting worse

I heated and bent my shifters. If you do it this way be ready for the awfull reak of burnning rubber ans the insulator melts out :o If I was to do it again I would probably just cut and extend the shifters.
