A ghetto SPOA is easy and cheap. You can do the whole job at home if you can do a little fab work yourself. Here is a link to a thread about this, http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=174.

When I did the first one I used aftermarket spring pads(which you can make yourself out of 2X6 tubing). The rear u-bolt plates need swapped side for side and the front u-bolt plates need the shock mounts cut off and welded in the oppisite dirrection as they can not be swapped side to side, then you can use the stock shocks. Take the brake hoses out of the frame mounts and let them hang. I added a drop pitman arm to help correct the steering linkage angle and an aftermarket stabilizer.

Wow... looks pretty simple. how do you feel about using spacers for the drive lines rather than cutting the existing ones up?

Its a pretty common thing to do on samurais, most of the Spoa kits that you can get will have drive line spacers included with them.

The spacers are not a big issue. I have had them on my Sami for about ten years. I have had no problems with them.

Ha i am done! 8) I got it done with very little trouble and lots of elbow grease... it actually handles better now than it did before, i am quite suprised  how basic it is....even made my own spacers outta some anodize aluminum i had lying around. had to do a little cutting around the front wheel wells to fit the tires tho...
