I'm in the middle of stripping down the exterior of the tracker for a complete bed liner do-over! I have stipped the paint down to the original primer in some area's . This was no easy task. I had a friend that painted it camo and it had several coats of paint on it after he did that! A 4 inch orbital sander and several sheets of sand paper and it is just about ready for the liner. It was originally black and the bed liner material that I am putting on is sand colored.

I've been on the "net" trying to replace everything that I need that has been broken over the years. One thing that I needed was the plastic tailgate cover. Mine broke on one corner several years ago. A friend of mine gave me one of the "wail tail" covers for a 2007 chevy silverado. No, it did not fit, but a lot of trimming with a dremel tool and a cut off blade and PRESTO it fits pretty cleanly. Looks pretty cool too ! 

I was going to post some pictures, and I will once I have finsihed the entire project. My camera is on the blink again. I think it is time for a new one!

Lets see if I can post some pics! I had to cut about 10 to 11 inches out of the middle of the tailgate cover and trim the edges to make this fit.

Planning on starting the bed liner exterior tomorrow if the weather holds out. More pics to come!

I must admit I like the way that looks. Does it look like there would be any clearance issues with a hard top or the spare tire?

I put the spare tire 235/75/15 on the tire rack and it does hit the tailgate cover, but its not pushing on it. I think that it will help support the tire similar to the little rubber cushions that were originally on the tailgate. As far as the hard top question, I don't know if there would be any clearance issues. I have the soft top and the rear window lower rubber trim fits up against the inside upper wall of the tailgate.

One other thing, if you have backspaced rims for your spare, I would think that it probably will not rub the gate cover at all.
