Help me decide what to do with this one
« on: October 17, 2004, 11:07:28 AM »
Here's my latest acquisition, an '89 Sidekick. Here are the specs; 150,000 miles, 1.6, 5-speed, non-functioning A/C, Bestop is around a year old.

It is a little rough around the edges but it has some recent new parts and it runs fairly well except for the high idle problem that most early Kicks seem to have (tips on how to repair this problem would be greatly appreciated). The right front wheel bearing has failed and taken the caliper with it. Should I fix it or part it out?

I'd part out what you don't want and put the money into the kick.

Been thinking about making the back half into a cool matching trailer for the '96.

That would be cool! But it would waste all those good parts.

True, but I could still sell 99% of the drivetrain. ;D

I thought that until I took my rear bumper cover off and I had a huge rust hole.  :-/

My rear bumper was nasty with rust but thankfully no holes in the body.

Too bad it's in parts or we could do some talking. My 15-yr. old wants this one to be her first car but it's a little too experienced for that. I've already got her a Nissan Sentra to drive but she wants a Zuk. Apparently it’s an inherited trait. ;D

Well then, I guess you could always SELL the Sentra and put THAT money in her new Zuke ;D  If she'ss 15 that gives you a couple of years to get it right and take it out for all kinds of test drives. ;D  (Just a thought here)

Wish you lived closer. I'd buy it in a heartbeat to keep it as a DD.
