SUZUKI AUTO MAINTAINS SALES PACE IN 2008
Suzuki year-over-year daily rate sales up 2.6 percent for month
March sales bring 2008 volume to 26,430 vehicles
BREA, Calif., (April 1, 2008) – American Suzuki Motor Corp. today announced automotive sales of 10,510 units in March, a year-over-year daily selling rate increase of 2.6 percent over last year’s March sales total. Suzuki Auto’s strong sales month, which kept it on-pace to match the company’s record-setting 2007 sales year, resulted in a total year-to-date sales volume of 26,430 vehicles.
March sales were led by Suzuki’s midsize crossover SUV, the XL7, which sold an impressive 3,898 units, an increase of 84 percent over 2007. The SX4 model line also contributed to March’s increase with 3,206 units sold, up 92 percent year-over-year.
“March 2008 saw two fewer selling days compared to March 2007, and despite the continuing challenges in today’s global economy, we’re pleased to report a 2.6 percent increase in monthly sales, said Mark Harano, president of American Suzuki Automotive Operations. “Our expanded SX4 lineup, in particular, is receiving well-deserved attention from American consumers, delivering careful assembly, competitive economy and comfortable accommodation.
