« on: April 26, 2008, 04:51:42 PM »
Ok guys i have a 2x4,1995,auto,1.6 tracker. A buddy is selling a whole drive line out of a 91 jeep cherokee 4x4, 4.0l for $200, i was think about just doing a whole swap with my geo. So im just wondering how hard it would be to do? He has motor, axles, tranny, computer, drive shafts, umm cant remember the rest.

uuuhhh good luck.... hope you got a garage plenty of tools  and loads of time. I looked into doing the same to my 96 GO tracker and for the amount of wheeling i do it was not worth it to me.  I guess just stop and ask yourself (is it really worth it) but if you plan on going to moab and climbing some rocks all the time then go for it.       Just my little opinion
I got your Jeep thang,  thats why it burns when I pee..

Mods: BDS 2" susp., Rocky Road +2'' Body, OME struts, flipped strut mount, custom High lift mount, CB, 30x9.50x15 RVT's

Comming soon.... To hell with IFS,  SAS'N it

thanks, see it would be a me and pops project, he has garages, tool, mig, tig, tube bender, air compressor, ect. We also have some access to some lathes and whatnot. I just didnt kno what would be easyer to do, get a geo with a blown motor from the bone yard and doing that or just going this route.

Don't let the difficulty of a project stop you from doing it, especially if it means spending quality time with your dad. If he has the experience to go with all those tools, it should be a fun project, and you'll end up with an awsome wheeler! Take lots of Pics!

Well, if you're going for easier, go to the boneyard and get Geo parts for your Geo.
If you're going for a fabrication project with dad, then go with the Cherokee. (Make sure your dad feels the same!)

What is your budget? A $200 drive line can turn into a $2000+ drive line in a hurry on a project like this. :o

That being said, Bentparts has a point. You can't buy quality time with dad.

Beat up Geo Tracker: $500. Jeep driveline $200 ( plus the thousands it'll take to make it work.)
Time with DAD: Priceless.
