long time no see!!
« on: May 05, 2008, 04:40:57 PM »
I have been out of commision due to surgery and moving but I am finally able to play on the computer and soon start work on my sidekick.
During my recovery I got my hands on several parts, and some material to build my bumpers, rock sliders, and stuff like that.I will definately start with replacing my heater controls, rear window regulator and stuff like that before doing the hard stuff. But after being on my ass for so long I can't wait to get started at something!!

Thank's guys, and it is good to be back!!
Hopefully, next week I will get started on fabbing some parts, starting with my bumpers. There are some great winch bumpers out there, but I hate paying for something I can build. Not to mention my wheelin buddy just ordered a $600 winch bumper, and paid $140 for shipping. No thank"s.
There are a couple of 8,000 pound small hydraulic wenches and the pump we pulled off of a retired forrestry service brush truck I am thinking on.The pump needs rebuilt, which is easy and cheap, but I am concerned about loosing horsepower, and other issues from the belt driven pump.

Hydro winches are nice, but they only work as long as your rig is running.  Unless your planning on doing a lot of winching, I think you  might be better off with an electric.

I agree about building your own bumper though.  If nothing else, it customizes your vehicle.  :D

I was thinking the same thing about the winches, but they are so small and light, and I have them, that I gave it consideration.I don't expect much winching as I will have to stick to the easier stuff till by back gets in a netter way,but better saf e than sorry. And I have shitty luck.
I also have some Blackbird belt driven, hydraulic, and pto generators,But i really don't need one.If I go with hydro wenches I may use one so I will be able to powe rmost anything I would ever need to use.
I found out today I won't be able to start any welding for a few days because of one of my implants.Once it is permanantely programmed on the 26th,everything will bw good to go.I hope!I have been trying to get to work on my Zuki for months and now that I can I am getting anxious!!
