Normal oil operating pressure for 1.6 16v
« on: May 19, 2008, 06:38:02 AM »
Hi,

I currently don't have access to my haynes and was looking or a quick answer.  What is the normal operating oil pressure at idle.  I have a 94 1.6 16valve side kick motor that i'm running and at first startup it idles at 40-60 psi for about 10-15mins.  After 30mins of driving the pressure will drop to 15-20psi at idle.  I'm wondering if this is normal or too low.  Any info will help.  Thanks!!!

Where are you measuring the pressure at? I am measuring the oil pressure for mine at the port where the sending unit formerly was. I use an Autometer oil pres. guage, and run cold at idle, 75lbs, warm idle 25, 60psi at highway cruise or anything over 2500 rpms. Yours sounds low. What oil are you using?
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER
