80-90 will be fine and each end takes about 1 quart

If it's a new vehicle (to me), I check / change all the fluids...
Transfer case, bleed the breaks, flush & replace coolant, suck out & replace power steering fluid, check the belts, cap & rotor, timing belt...

Go here:
http://www.acksfaq.com/
Get the Field Service Manual (FSM). It will tell you all (location, pics, quantity of fluids, Method of Procedure etc.). It's got just about all you'll ever need to know about your samurai.
And, the transfer case and transmission are two separate entities.

if you search around, i'm sure you can find a fsm for your year.
for basic service info, a chilton's will give you most of what you need and enough procedural advice on how to do it.
more technical stuff gets left out.
