Freakin exhaust!!!!!

Freakin exhaust!!!!!

Well, I smashed my stock exhaust this weekend, so I went out and bought a glasspack. Got it all fitted up, and tucked up as much as possible, and now it STINKS. Smells like burning rubber. Is this the glass pack breaking in or what? Nothing is rubbing anywhere. The entire exhaust is clear from the manifold back.

Also, I have no rear window, and even in the stock location, exhaust blew in the tracker. Any solutions to this? I have the exhaust turned down just in front of the rear axle right now.

that is a new exh..dont worry about it eventually itl go away but for now u gota live with it

i thought i blew up an '04 roush stage 2 at work because when i was driving it smelled horrid! lol..it was just the exh

If you've got it too close to the floorboards, you might be melting paint and whatnot :o

As far as I remember, my exhaust didn't smell any different after I put a new (cheap) TurboII muffler on it...

I did exhaust for a living back in school.  ALMOST all vehicles with a rear door /window have the exhaust routed out the side to keep it from getting sucked back into the vehicle.  

I've noticed Conv Kicks and Sammys exit out of the corner and usually have a little more exhaust smell getting inside then I'm comfortable with.  I route my Sammy exhaust out the side just behind the wheel when I replace it.  This seems to help.

Also I use a turbo tube / resonator.  Looks just like a glass pack (Same small round heavy gauge steel), but is baffeled (Can not see light thru it) and has the quieter rumble of a performance muffler.   These are usually shorter then a standard glass pack and fit perfect for a Samurai muffler replacement.   I am planning on redoing the 4-door exhaust next week if time premits.  I caught the tail pipe backing up last outing and folded it just in front of the muffler.   I'll try to get some pics if I can.

New exhaust will have a smell, give it a week.  Look and see if it doesn't go away or gets worse.

The Suzuki handbook specifically says not to drive with the rear window out for exactly that reason.

I had a smashed rear window and the stupid thing reeked of exhaust fumes.  it you are going to doit, dont turn it down, turn it all the way to the left as far out as possible.

LMAO  when was the last time any of us listened to the owners manual  it also say not to add larger tieres modifiy suspention and warning sticker on the samurai  about removing body parts lol

Well, glad it it normal. Think I'll nack some more off so I can dump it ont the side, behind the slider, inbetween the slider and rear wheel.

I almost got sick from exhaust fumes on a 10 mins drive.... :-/

Sounds about right. My Calami system stunk for days. Had the smell cleared out & got caught behind a manure spreader... that was leaking.

In comparison, I'll take the new exhaust smell.  :D

Very true but breathing exhaust fumes can make you drowsy. Drowsiness causes accidents. The handbook covers all the turbo models  ;D ;D well except Wilds!
