Replacing Outer CV Boots on Track/Kick

Is there a way to get outer CV Boots on withough dissassembling the cv axle? ???

you have to remove the joint from the shaft for a standard replacement boot.
i was pleased with how easy that was.
i hear there are boots that can be installed "on the car", supposedly without disassembly.
never seen one.
'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.

These are called EZ boots or quick boots.  You can find them with a little hunting around.  Some people say they are great and some people say they are only teporary at best.  I will be using oe soon since mine needs replaced and my garge is full since I just moved.

Thank you! I figured it out... I went to the local auto parts store and bought a couple of boots.  I did not want to take the axles apart so I go a long oil funnel and cut it down until it fit the biggest part of the shaft.  Then I turned the boot inside out, greased the funnel and slid the inside out boot onto the funnel.  You can push the boot a good way on but then you have to grab the big end and pull it on.  then turn it inside out on the axle and fill with grease and strap!  It was really easy!

i applaud your resourcefulness.
it's good to know the boot can stretch that much.
perhaps the cv joint didn't want to slide off after circlip removal?
important thing is that you got a good boot on there.

Taking the CV joints apart is reallly easy!  It is the "getting them off the truck" that is hard.

I am impressed that you were successful with the funnel trick. I would think that technique might rip or overstretch them.

I tried split boots on a truck once.  A split boot wrap around the joint and is held together with several bolts and a plate.  no matter how hard I tried, I could not get them to seal up perfectly.

I got the idea from the directions... apparently, doorman makes a boot spreader or gun.  However, you cannot buy it anywhere.  I just looked at it and tried to come up with something similar.
