How do i bend my shifters?

ok im almost to the point where io have to bend/extend shifters, how do i bend them? where do i bend them at?

my lug nuts require more torque then my engine makes ;)

If you have a welder available, it's actually better to weld in a 3" extension rather than bending. That's what several members here (myself included) did... works like a charm. Natebert has a good pic of both shifters with extensions welded in.

ok so i think at the verry bottom of the shifter is where i have to add 3" of material?

my lug nuts require more torque then my engine makes ;)

DON"T BEND YOUR SHIFTERS! (from experience!)

at the bottom of the shifters, there is a rubber boot (round) that stops sh!t getting into the gearbox, thats where most people cut theirs for extending.

be wary, the rubber boot doesn't come off, so when cutting and welding, try not to melt it. i think you should cut it just before the 1st bend, and put 3" of whatever material you want.

same with transfer.

if i find some pics, i'll post them for you.

Mine were extended from the bottom too, Spence.

Mac found some tubing that fit perfectly over the shifter shaft.  So I simpily cut the shaft, inserted the two end into the tubing, then welded them up.  You can also "but weld" in a piece of rod instead of using the tubing.. But the tubing will be stronger.

Make sure your careful with the boots when your taking them off.

thanks kreg i got the idea now hopefully i will be able to get some tubing, if not i guess i will but wled them or i will get some one too, thanks

Sikid had another pic up which he must have remove after my "joking" coments but it was one of mine  that I originaly sent him a few months ago we he asked me where to cut his. Looking at the date on the other pic it's not his eitheir is it yours ? ;D
