Help With Trackick Front Bumper Build
« on: July 11, 2008, 04:34:08 PM »
I'm making a plate bumper and need to cut a hole for the winch cable to come out the front. The measurements I'm looking for are how big the hole is, and how high it is off the winch mounting surface. See pic:

Thanks if you can help :)

Red - Measurement of winch rope opening
Green - Measurement of fairlead mounting holes
Blue - How high the hole is raised above the winch mounting plate
Orange - Height of the covering plate

Not all winchs are made equal.. What winch and size are you planning to use?

True, but that has nothing to do with what I'm asking. When you buy a bumper from Calmini  or Shrock or Trail Tough the bumper has the hole pre cut. They don't cut it special for each customer depending on what winch they use. I'm looking for someone that has a winch bumper to help me with these measurements.

Not mine, it was just a pic to show what I'm looking for. Thanks for the link, but that gives dimensions of the winch. I don't have a winch right now, but I'm building a bumper so I can put one on later. So, I'm just looking for the measurements of that hole in the picture... or any other make winch bumper.

This is what I came up with...  (Measurements taken with a machinist's scale - metal ruler.)

Red - Measurement of winch rope opening =  8  1/4  x  1  1/4 inches, Opening is also square.
Green - Measurement of fairlead mounting holes = 10 inches center to center
(fairlead holes are 9/16 inches in diameter)
Blue - How high the hole is raised above the winch mounting plate = 7/16 inches
Orange - Height of the covering plate = 3  1/8 inches

If you need anything else, let me know.

P.S. I'm using a Warn 8000lb winch with a Calmini winch bumper.
