The Anvil is it really worth having?
« on: July 20, 2008, 05:22:08 AM »
I have a 98 4 door Tracker.  I have a winch bumper w/Warn 9.5TI, slidders, gas tank skid lined with 1/2" black UHMW, front skid lined with 1/2" black UHMW,  calmonkey suspension lift, 2" BL,  welded rear,  locked front, 31" Pro Comp Extreme mud's on black krawler wheels (my DD set up),  for wheeling I have 31" LTB's on steel beadlocks.   I have done the Kagen front widening mod, and I have made a stub shaft.  That is as far as I have gotten on the front end.  I want / need to do the rear mod.   Is calmonkeys anvil really worth having?  I already have the diff drop brackets.  I have searched for a factory steel front but have not had much luck.  Having owned some of calmonkeys stuff I know what I have owned of thiers leaves alot to be desired of a product but they seem to be the only one's making some of this stuff.   I had an OME lift and have been kicking myself ever since I sold it.  Thanks for any input.  Jim

Hey, if you can afford it the Anvil is supposed to be the hot setup for the front diff. You'll still want to get a steel carrier if your gonna wheel that hard. I've had pretty good luck with a strengthed and strapped stock alum diff so far. I have a steel front set up waiting to go, in the event it does break.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Without question.....YES!!!!! I had many issues with the stock set up and never had an issue after going to the anvil with an XL7 third....For details, check out 'Zig's Beef'  article in the archive.

BTW that entire set up will be for sale soon... PM me if interested in a complete set up for a discount  ;)

When I first saw this, it thought it said "Avril".  I guess she would be worth having if she did not like your girlfriend.

I couldn't break Zig's anvil on a several hundred mile road trip with hard night wheeling in between. That says something for it I guess.

People say I am hard on stuff......... ???
