perfect Back spacing?
« on: October 01, 2004, 06:34:50 AM »
well i'm on my way to getting new wheels for my new BFG A/T's 235's.  i love the back spacing on the british Escudo featured on the suspension page of RRO
http://www.rocky-road.com/kicksus.html.

what back space would you say he's got on there.  or rather what's a good backspace for 235/75/r15 with the RRO 4.5 inch lift?

i took my zukiholic habit straight to the brewery....hence why i now work for American Suzuki.
however nobody knows much about non-factory specs....like different backspacing.

I'd say an inch further out would be ideal for ya... stock backspacing is 4.5", I think... Should keep ya from rubbing on the frame at full lock.

I may know the owner of that car. There aren't many Escudos over here so a clean one with OME suspension is going to be pretty rare. I recognise the wheel style, it was sold as an option by Suzuki, but they were offered in 3 different widths, I have the 8" rims and they need extended arches so those must be narrower. I shall make enquiries.

3.5 should look good, I have 4" on a
set of 8" Rock Crawlers, I prefure a set
of narrower rims, so I would put the 235
on the stock rims, I'm going to put 33-12.5
on a set of 7" with a 3.5 BS as soon as I can
afford to drop another $700 on tires and wheels

No, Street tires  ;D
LTBs are wearing in front
Backs are good, and I have a set
of 30" street tires on the stock rims
but the RPM is so high I don't like it,
so I want a set of 33 Radial all terain
tires for street driving.

Ah. Gotcha.

I did hear about these new all-terrain tires called Super Swamper Boggers... but they're not radials, though ;)

Boggers are Axle Breakers,
I think if I did lots of mud or
lots of sand I would go Boggers,
but for all around terain Swampers
kick Butt.

Pep Boy's has a 33" 12.5  Dakota
Radial, looks good, works well and
they are less than $100 each, which
is just about right for me, unless I go
down to the used tire shop and get
another space saver 33 12.5 SSR
for a stock rim  ;)

i guess i forgot to ask, does the Escudo pictured have 235's or 30's?  they look thin as heck so i assumed 235.  they don't look thick enough to be any bigger.
