I need clearance!
« on: September 27, 2004, 02:39:36 AM »
Went to Tuttle Creek ORV park this weekend.  Pics in Adventure Forum.  Ripped up the trans. case crossmember.  I think I am going with the Calmini kit.  The question is 2" or 3".  Not trying to start a war here.  This is a dual purpose vehicle so please keep that in mind.

Skid Plate, bigger tires, 2" lift for Dual Purpose
should be a good combo

Yea, I'm with Wild on this one. The 2" Kit will ride and handle alot better on road than the 3". You can fit 29-30" tires with little or no trimming with the Calmini 2" suspension lift. I run this kit on my daily driver and put 1000 miles a week on it with no complaints ;D

Ya, Zukipilot your X looks good.

I had a Calmini 2" kit probably 10 years ago.  They have changed it though.  There was no front axle drop and they used KYB shocks all around.  It was a nice kit.

Thanks, I bought mine around 1995-1996. It spent many hard years on the Kick then was moved over to the X-90. Being able to pound the hell out of a Kit off road for many years, and then still be able to put it on a daily driver and run 80 down the interstate says alot about the quality they put into it. I love that Kit.

Man, you don't need no stinkin' skidplates... just do it Palmberg style and get 'mog axles and 44" boggers...  Drive right over top of everything 8)

Yeah, the 2" kit would probably be much better for a daily driver/trail rig than the 3".

You could actually go with the 2" suspension add your slightly larger tires, work out the bugs for better droop on the 2", and when you are ready for larger tires, gears, lockers, etc, add body lift.

Jag,

You and I are always on the same page.  After some armor, I'm thinking about the Rocky-Road 2" body lift.  Talk about opposites attracting.  Calmini lift + Rocky-Road lift.   :D
