alignment kits
« on: June 07, 2005, 03:17:00 PM »
I know this site is mostly for lifted kicks. But i got a problem i found some lowering springs from hks that will work cause the springs are the same for all years of kicks even the sports. But here is my problem all the aligment kits are made for kicks up to 96 and they use adjust ball joint on bottom. well on the sports they  don't have the removable ball joint like on the regualr kick they are built into the a arm. so how can i fix camber angles is there any other kit out there? ???

Ther is no adjustment for camber alignment on the ball joint. You need camber adjustment bolts that fit in place of one of the lower strut mounting bolts. On a lowered Kick you will need the adjustable bolt in place of the bottom bolt.

Then you can maybe take the part# to a AutoParts store in your hood and see what they have ;D

so it allows 1.75 of adjustment. Would that be enough to make up for the 2 inch drop? Sweet as soon as its out of the body shop with its new paint job i'll post pictures of one of the few sidekick 4drs with a drop and 20s

I honestly couldn't tell you.
But if it will work on a 2-3"inch lift, why not?
Just may take a little trail and error on how to put them in.

If one camber bolt per strut gives you so much adjustment, could you get two sets and put a bolt in the top and bottem holes of each stut and give you more adjustment?

no because it would move the wheel out instead of angle it or  it work agianst each other. i think it should work if it works on a lift that big.

Two's possible but thier likely to twist or wear out the strut holes, the possition of the tag on the washer determines whether you get plus or minus adjustment .Two's defintely not road legal where I live in Australia BTW

Even if it would work, I wouldn't do this, I've heard these bolts are not as strong as an OE bolt, at least if the cam breaks, you still have an 8pt bolt holding your wheel on. 1.75 deg. whether enough or not, it's all that there is as far as I've seen. It's enough for a 2" lift, so it should be good for a 2" drop.

Good Idea, I'd like to see it. What color are you going with? At one point in time, I wanted 2 Trackers, 1 lowered with 19's, and the other lifted with 31's, but then I realized I'm broke. -$  :P

Yeah it expensive for the wheels but luckly i work for american racing and get wheels at cost. I'm painting it two tone so as to keep its sport appeal. It will be white on top and sliver on bottom. And its getting tribal sliver carbon fiber flames on the side.

Makes sense. I only have one in mine. I did find a bolt kit that advertises 2.5 deg. camber adjustment and it seems to work with my RRO 2.5" lift. I got it at the local auto parts store, stock item. I can get the part # if anyone wants it.

i found a kit from  eibach it contains those bolts. the kits cost about 40 bucks but claims to correct enough for a 2 inch drop.  So it should work.  now i'm debating on spending the cash on springs or just cutting the ones i have. Whats the rule one in off springs will drop 2 inchs?
