I have a 1989 tracker that came with the 1.6L engine. I got ahold of a 280HP modded mitsu eclipse motor. I want to swap the engine in the truck has I will make it physcially fit. But what I need to know is what is the torque capacity of the 5-spd tranmission, transfer case and driveline? It will have at most 30" tires for now.

Can you say explode? I think your going waaaay beyond the design parameters of the driveline with that kind of power. Would be a freakin rocket though!
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

I've heard and seen people running a 4.3L with a stock trans.  Don't know how they have lasted.

Also heard of 350's???

It's not the power under the hood.  It is the foot on the throttle.  Who doesn't want hi Hp, but is seems likely to break many parts, frequently.
