Locker install question
« on: October 15, 2008, 11:07:08 AM »
Hello all, I will try my best to explain my question the best I can since everyone calls parts by different names. I have a Tracker with 5.12's. I purchased a Lock Right locker. Now when u remove the guts from the stock Diff, u have to pull the drive pins out of the three sleeve cylinder things. Now there is a hole in the stock cylinder thing which the drift pin goes into. My question is this...the new locker sleeve/ cylinder does not have the holes for the drift pin to go into. Is this not needed with the locker? Since the stock cylinder thing has a hole for the drive pin, then why doesn't the new ones that came with the locker have the holes for the drift pin? Or do you not need them with the new cylinders? Remember the cylinders are the three magic marker size stainless steel tubes (three total). I am using my cell phone and I don't have a picture to submit.

Are you trying to put the locker in the front end or rear end?

Pulled this off of Acks Faq, has a good writeup on installing the locker.  Instructions are the same with the tracker rear end.  :)

i know what you mean.
i looked at those rods(cylinder things) that came w/my lockrite for a while before i used my originals and put it back together.
either i was supposed to drill my own holes for the pins, or it could also fit something else?
seems to work fine with my old ones, and i'm real impressed w/performance offroad.
funny on the road, but i'm getting used to it.
'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.
suzi the psychic gets me fishing.

Hmmm.  I was thinking that the locker I got for my sidekick had a hole in the end of the long pin.....but then again that has been about 12 years ago, and I have forgotten a few things since then.  Either way,  as long as your original pin is in good shape, you should be able to reuse it without any problems.
Tracker and Sidekick parts for sale.....PM me with your wants/needs.

Yes but the problem is that this is a Sammy diff in this link. I think the Sidekick and thr Traker have the holes in the cylinders. I was told to get the 1510 Lock Right. Now everything fits, but I am concerned that I need to put those drift pins back in. Maybe this locker is the wrong one since there are no drift pin holes. Note that on this link which is a Sammy Diff, there aren't even holes in this Diff for drift pins to go into.

1510 is the Samurai locker.  1512 is for Sidekick.  But I think you can still use the 1510 in a Kick.
