Hello everyone this site seems to be very informative.  I have owned a 95 Sidekick JX 16V 4 door automatic since 1997.  It was used to make my 40 mile each way commute  and is completely stock with the exception of a front brush guard.  I bought the truck with 12,000 miles and changed to Mobil 1 synthetic, the  truck  now has 125,000 on it. I took it off the road Dec. 2002.  
It has been sitting in my driveway and now I have the bug to start modding it.  It will be going to my mechanic to get the timing belt replaced again and a some needed TLC.  
Questions what is the biggest wheel / tire combo I can run at stock ride height??
Any free or low cost mods that are recommended??I have two other vehicles bankrupting me in mods!!

I intend to use the truck on weekends to take my dogs to the beach,and for winter driving so it will be seeing beach driving and winter /snow use,no real serious off roading.

Sorry for the long post, I appreciaite any help you guys can offer, the truck has never let me down and I'd like to see it back on the road looking good.

Compared to the Trans Am and Corvette, probably any mod you do to the Sidekick will be "low cost"

Body lifts and or spring spacers are pretty inexpensive for these things.  There are several good posts archived on these topics.

A header and open element air filter are relatively cheap too, but I doubt you'd appreciate the power gain, again, given the aforementioned vehicles.

I'm not sure about your '95, but 30x9.5s are supposed
to fit on my '90.  With a little wider, lighter wheel, that might be pretty good for sand use (once they're aired down).

I'm sure others will have much better and many more tips for you.

I have 235/75/15 on my 90 Tracker and they fit great.  Only the spare tire wouldn't fit it's rack in that size.  Since this is not a daily driver I would get some aggressive tires for it.   I mean M/T or real A/T's like the BF Goodrich.  I run a set of M/T retreads from a company at http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/.  I recommend them very highly.

Well, I'd first do the budget lift as you are like many of us (poor folk   ):

This is a good rundown of installing coil spring spacers, and flipping the front strut mounts. Next is the body lift, and after a little bit of this and a little bit of that, you'll be running some nice 31x10.50 tires. To run this size you'll have to trim your fenders, but as the page tells you, cover it up with some fender flares and BAM, you've taken your ride up a notch! Throw in a k&n performance filter, maintain it well and you'll be offroading easy. Hell, I have a stock 4 door and I haven't run into any trouble (except an old strut busted on me when I first got it) and lately I've been driving it hard in the bush! After you've got a taste for what the beast can do, sell one of your other project vehicles and make it a monster 4-door! Good luck and have fun!
